COMPETITION RULES
The competition will be conducted under the competition rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation and the instructions provided by the organizers.

MAP
The competition map is a 6-coloured printer copy drawn in July 2017. The contour interval is 5 metres. The maps will have a plastic covering. The scale is 1:10 000 on Saturday and Sunday.. The scale for classes M/W50 and the older classes is 1: 7 500 on Saturday and on Sunday.

At start 1, the size of the map is A4 on Saturday and A3 on Sunday.

The competitor can keep the map after arriving at the finish. The organizers emphasize fair play presumed by the rules.

COMPETITOR BIBS AND COMPETITION MATERIAL

The bibs will be found in files by the Info at the event centre. Remember your own safety pins!

All the competitors will use the same bibs on both days.

Control description sheets and emit back-up tags will be at the starts. Competitors will get the control description sheets in the starting box four minutes before the start.

There will be no equipment for fastening the control descriptions at the starts.

CHECKING THE EMIT CARDS

Each competitor is responsible for the operation of their emit card and for using the emit card that is mentioned on the start list. The organizers will not check the validity before the start. If the competitor uses another emit card than made known to the organizers, the performance will be disqualified (the event rules 11.518). The change of an emit card (e.g. because the emit card is broken) will cost 2 €. In case of not returning a rented emit card, the charge will be 60 €.

The changes of the emit cards with payment shall be attended at the Info.

STARTS AND DISTANCES TO THE STARTS

The start lists are available for review at the competition centre and at the starts.

Start 1. Marked out with red and white fibre ribbons.  
On Saturday 1,3 km along a trail and forest road
On Sunday 2,1 km along a forest road.

The ribbons start from the sign post.

On Sunday classes M/W21A will start in reverse order and have an interval start on the basis of Saturday´s results. The winner of Saturday will start last in his / her class. Those who only participate on Sunday and those who are left without result on Saturday will start first in the class in an order drawn by lot. On Sunday the first start is in W21A at 10.30 and in M21A at 10 am.

Start procedure:
4 minutes before the start the competitor is called to the starting box. The competitors get their loose control description sheets.
3 minutes before the start the emit card is cleared.
2 minutes before the start the map can be reviewed.
1 minute before the start the competitor steps to the maps.
The competitor can take the map at the last beep of the clock.

CONTROLS

The controls are identical to the model control point. The model control and the emit check point are situated by the sign post. The control numbers are printed on the maps.

DRINK STATIONS

On Sunday there will be a drink station in the terrain where water is available. There will be an opportunity of getting in contact with the competition centre.

OUT-OF-BOUNDS    

The forbidden areas have been marked on the maps. Some small forbidden areas are marked in the terrain with a ribbon.

On Saturday some of the courses pass a large heap of snow which is being stored for next winter. The sports institute has marked the heap out-of-bounds and it is absolutely forbidden to trespass the area because of safety risk.

FINISH

There is a marked route to the finish from the last control. Competitors punch at the finish line. After punching everyone will move to a reading unit where the emit card will be discharged and the punches checked. Any cases of confusion will immediately be cleared up at a separate checking point nearby. The competitor whose performance is for some reason disqualified has to prove the validity of his / her performance or accept being disqualified before leaving the finish area. The finish is closed at 3 pm on Saturday and at 3 pm on Sunday.

SHOWER AND TOILETS

Clothes can be changed in the field of event centre.  Showers available in the event centre. Toilets can be found at the event centre.

DROP-OUT

A competitor who wants to drop out must pass the finish, punch normally and report to the officials at the finish.

FIRST-AID

There is a first aid station at the competition centre. There are no first aid stands in the terrain.

INFO

Mistakes on the start list, emit card changes and unpaid entry fees are handled at the Info.

Rented emit cards can be collected and the fee of 5 € paid at the Info and the emit cards must be returned there, too. 60 € will be charged for an unreturned emit card. The change of an emit number costs 2 €.

VIP are served by the Info.

SPLIT TIMES

The split times will be available at the event centre.

CHILD CARE SERVICE

Child care is available at the competition centre.

RESULTS  

The results will be updated on the result board according to the progress of the competition. The results can also be reviewed on the website of Lahden suunnistajat -37 on www.ls37.fi.  The start times for classes M/W21A for Sunday will be available on the website www.ls37.fi after 7.00 pm on Saturday.

PRIZE GIVING

The prizes are awarded according to the combined results of both days and can be collected at the prize stand on Sunday. The amount of prizes in each class can be reviewed on the result board. A piece of paper with text “palkinnot noudettavissa” will appear on the result list when the prizes of the class can be collected from the prize stand. The prizes will not be delivered afterwards.

Only classes M/W21A will be awarded their prizes on a podium at the event centre.

BUFFET

There is a cafe in the event centre. Coffee, rolls, refreshments and soup available.  No entrance with orienteering shoes on.

The competitors and the audience have not been insured by the organizers.
